Royal Town of Klang

Officially known as the Royal Town of Klang, it is the former capital of the state Selangor, Malaysia. It may not be one of the most beautiful cities in Malaysia, but Klang has a unique old-world charm. Known for its rich heritage sites and colonial architecture, it is a city with palace, mosque, and other buildings which associate itself with the Selangor sultanate.

Located 45km from Kuala Lumpur, Klang is a popular day trip for most tourists. The colourful town is split between Klang town and port (Pelabuhan Klang) and is small enough to explore on foot. The Klang River flows through the town and divides it into South Klang and North Klang. 

Designed to be an Eco Smart City, Klang is also an education hub. Entertainment and activities in Klang take the form of sightseeing, shopping, and cinemas. There are several shopping malls here, especially South Klang. Istana Alam Shah, the royal residence of the Sultan of Selangor, Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Tugu Keris, are a few of the notable places in Klang that are worth a visit.
